Sagrada Familia in Barcelona, Passion Façade

The west-facing side of the Sagrada Familia symbolizes the suffering, death, and resurrection of Jesus. Columns are built like muscles under strain. The statue of Jesus on the cross exposed for everyone to see. Walking under these columns and inside the church left a lasting impression on me, even though I don't feel a particular connection to religion. I was left in awe of how the architecture itself was conveying the feelings behind the story, instead of just narrating it.

Being on the road inspires me more than anything. Roaming in parts of the world I've never been to awakens a sort of alertness in me that makes me feel alive. An urge to discover arises.

The feeling of not knowing where I'll find myself next scares me, but simultaneously it excites me.

Ready is not a feeling, but a decision.
••

I always thought I needed to feel ready in order to start something new. Whether it is a new project, an unexplored technique, or even sharing an opinion. Doubt often creeps in unnoticed, not because it's barely there, but because the mind has grown accustomed to it.

Photography allows me to take back control over my thoughts, to air out the room upstairs, to release - but most importantly, to redirect.

Directing my focus outwards, even when my mind attempts to pull me back into doubt, forces me to release its grip.

It's a commitment to keep learning and moving forward in spite of fear.

I'm incredibly thankful for having been a part of this and for being able to share my work with so many people. I had a lot of inspiring conversations that led me to reflect more deeply on my work. It reminded me that my work doesn’t only serve myself, it can also leave an impact on others. It's quite fascinating to see how sharing something personal can create space for connection.

I’ve learned a lot and am filled with excitement to start a new chapter, letting this one evolve and become the foundation for something bigger. More info soon.

My graduation project 'Where Have I Been Hiding?' explores experiencing loneliness in the presence of others and the longing for human connection: wanting to remain invisible, while simultaneously longing to be seen. Through repeatedly pressing photos of loved ones and my surroundings onto curtains, until the ink fades, I give shape to this fragile space between presence and disappearance: the space to rediscover my authentic self.

My graduation project 'Where Have I Been Hiding?' explores experiencing loneliness in the presence of others and the longing for human connection: wanting to remain invisible, while simultaneously longing to be seen. By pressing photos of loved ones and internal reflections on delicate materials like thin curtains and mirrors, I give shape to this fragile space between presence and disappearance: the space to rediscover my authentic self.

My graduation project ‘Where Have I Been Hiding?’ is a reflection of the process of finding the way back to myself, after having lost my sense of self; an exploration of experiences with loneliness and longing for human connection.
